The Brocade SilkWorm 24000 Director, is a highly reliable and intelligent solution for deploying enterprise-class SANs in mission-critical environments. It supports key applications such as data backup, remote mirroring, and high-availability clustering as well as high-volume transaction processing applications such as ERP and data warehousing. With state-of-the-art performance and enhanced scalability for enterprise SAN environments, the SilkWorm 24000 provides unique capabilities to meet a variety of mission-critical requirements. By supporting 128 concurrently active 2 Gbit/sec full-duplex ports in a single domain, the SilkWorm 24000 offers improved performance, reduced management costs through a higher port/domain ratio, lower total cost of ownership, and the ability to upgrade to higher-speed connectivity options (by integrating 4 Gbit/sec SilkWorm 48000 blades). Designed to integrate with both heterogeneous open system and IBM zSeries server FICON environments, the SilkWorm 24000 gives organizations the flexibility to build cost-effective SANs that support the introduction of utility computing and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM). 2 Gbit/sec Fibre Channel Director for Large-Scale Enterprises Ultra-High Availability • No single points of failure • Dual-redundant control processors with stateful failover • Redundant, hot-swappable components and redundant power and cooling subsystems • Non-disruptive software upgrades (hot code load and activation) • Continuous monitoring of environmental components • Fabric Shortest Path First (FSPF) traffic rerouting • Error detection and fault isolation facilities Simplified Manageability • Centralized management • Heterogeneous device connectivity • Automatic data routing and rerouting • Self-healing ISL Trunking capabilities • Call-home capabilities to provide remote notification of system events FICON Support • Supports 1 and 2 Gbit/sec IBM zSeries server environments • Supports intermix mode and cascaded configurations • Control Unit Port (CUP) support for seamless IBM zSeries server application-based director management Advanced Security • Hardware-enforced zoning by World Wide Name (WWN) • Secure Telnet access through SSH (Secure Shell) • Utilizes Brocade Web Tools utilization over a secure browser using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol Interoperability • Full backward and forward compatibility with the entire family of SilkWorm switches and directors • Supports non-disruptive addition of 4Gbit/sec blades Extensible, Modular, Bladed Architecture • High port density with up to 384 ports per 42U rack • Core backbone switch capabilities to allow SAN scaling well over 4,000 ports, providing investment protection and a clear growth plan • Designed for blades that support IP protocols Advanced Fabric Services • Advanced Zoning • Advanced Performance Monitoring • Inter-Switch Link (ISL) Trunking • Fabric Watch • Extended Fabrics • Secure Fabric OS
